Epilepsy is important to me because my niece is an epileptic.
  • Epilepsy is most common in young children and the elderly.
  • There are many types of epilepsy. They vary from ages to causes.
  • Most cases do not have a cause.
  • Some common causes are tumors, abnormal structure of the brain, and lack of oxygen at birth.
  • An EEG (electroencephalogram) is a devise that measures the electrical activity of the brain, and helps diagnose seizures, epilepsy, and other mental disorders.
  • A neurologist is a doctor that studies the brain, and reads the neurological tests.
  • Most cases of epilepsy are controlled with one or two medications, but most of them have side effects. (fear, drowsiness, and delayed development etc.)
